woman inside the home. first responders pronounced her dead at the scene. the fire department has not released her name. the fire and the woman's cause of death are still under investigation. for the first time this presidential race a republican candidate has at least 40 percent support from voters. a recent cbs / yougov poll of iowa republicans puts ted cruz and donald trump well ahead of the 11 other candidates. texas senator ted cruz reached 40 percent -- he was at about half of that just two weeks ago. donald trump has 31 percent. florida senator marco rubio is third at 12 percent. the steepest drop is retired neurosurgeo n ben carson, still in 4th but only at 6 percent. everyone else in the field is at 2 percent or lower. on saturday, donald trumumspoke to about one thousand people at the veterans memorial coliseum in downtown cedar rapids. he talked for about 75 minutes on a variety of topics from terrorism to the

care act. he also talked about the importanan of winning iowa. trump says he remains confident that he will be the winner in february. one of those candidates with very little support in iowa is hoping to ange that today. mike huckabee is making several stops in the state. the iowa faith and freedom coalition is hosting a party at the kava house and caf in swisher today. that's at 5:30 this evening. e cbs/you gov poll of iowa democrats shows hillary clinton maintaining a lead of only about 5 points. she has 50 percent, to senator bernie sanders' 45 percent. the two will campaign throughout iowa this week after their debate saturday night. sanders has 3 days of visits planned, all in western iowa, starting today. clinton is scheduled for stops in keota, fairfield, and bettendorf tomorrow. officials have still not said what killed a waterloo teenager who was found in the cedar river. family and friends will remember the life of 18- year-old moe sed at first baptist church of

authorities found his body in the cedar river two weeks ago. sed has been missing since october 22nd when he disappeared while riding his bike. yesterday, the community remembered him at a visitation on what would've been his 19th birthday. inina tv-9 follow-up this morning.. attorneys for a man accused of killing his daughter in dubuque are questioning the confession he me to police. 62-year-old robert stern faces a first-dedeee murder charge. police say he admitted to shooting his daughter multiple times with multiple guns in june. his lawyers argued friday in court for a motion to suppress his confession. they said he was not fit to waive his miranda rights when police interviewed him after the shooting. that's because of his physical, mental, and emotional condition at the time. the ronald mcdonald room at st. luke's hospital in cedar rapids can provide a safe haven for patients' families. the room is a supportive place during a difficult time. kcrg-tv9's forrest saunders is live at st. luke's this morning. forrest, the room has been there

9:02:06 these seniors from methwick -- a retirement community in cedar rapids - are filling up dozens of bags. "9:14:18 they have them marked, how many goes in each bag." they have the routine down to a science. after all, they volunteer their time every other friday to help with operation backpack. "19:12:18 it don't take too long, no! ha!" "9:15:53 the program started in 2008 with 134 students with eight schools. now we have 73 schools and 2,400 students that receive food every friday." students in grades k through 6 at harrison elementary in cedar rapids will receive the food that these seniors are packing up every other week. " 9:16:10 i think the biggest detail is awareness. the fact that there are one in five students in our servicicarea that are at risk for foodod insecurity what it really means is going to be hungry on the weekends, that's the reason for this food. availability so they can take food home on the weekends." and this definitely keeps the group busy. the demand keeps growing. " 9:20:47 when we did it last year i think we were packing just once a month and we would do maybe 120 bags for the month. so they were serving about 30 kids each week. and now that's increased to - like i said we are doing over 300 bags every two weeks. that's 650 bags a month

" while the food no doubt brings a smile to the kids faces, the volunteer work also makes these folks smile too. "we do know there was a toddler in the vehicle with the driver, who's 3 years old. and toddler is unharmed." before driving off again.. witnesses.. jumping into action. trying to stop the driver.. from causing more harm. scene. the fire department has not released her name. the fire and the woman's cause of death are still under investigation. a high school wrestler from spencer has died after he collapsed on the mat during a match this weekend. senior austin roberts was in the title match in the 220 weight class at the spencer invitational on saturday. the superintenden t at spencer community schools confirms that. roberts and his opponenwalked back to the center of thth mat when he collllsed. he later died at a hospital. the school superintenden t says his death was tough on his schoolmates. " austin was a student that was bigger than life in many wws, a large young man, 220- pounder student, with a laugh as big as any room you can put him in. good kid!" " he placed 8th in the class 2a state wrestling tournament last spring. a crisis team provided grief counseling at spencer high school yesterday. a woman intentionally drove

on the las vegas strip, killing one person and injuring more than 30 others. it happened in front of the paris hotel and casino. authorities have ruled out terrorism. police say the driver had a three-year old in the car. neither of them were hurt. police are holding the woman while they investigate this crash. waterloo police are investigating a stabbing that sent a woman to the hospital. officers found the woman in the 400 block of riehl street around 4:45 yesterday afternoon. she had at least one stab wound - police haven't said how seriously she was hurt. police have not made an arrest. prosecutors are determrming whether to file charges in the death of a waterloo girl. 4-year-old gracie buss died -- days after officers found her unresponsive in may. an autopsy found blunt force injuries to her head caused her death. police say they have completed their investigation and have given the results to the black hawk county attorney's office.

tv-9's forrest saunders live in cedar rapids this morning. thanks a lot, forrest. we hear politicians who talk about "visiting all 99 counties in iowa" -- but what about running a marathon in each one? dennis lee and daren schumaker are not "running for office." they're just running. in every county. john campbell has their story. the best run was chickasaw county maybe because i am from there the worst run was taylor county. it was raining and 38 degrees. weirdest thing, bebeon county. we got shot at by pheasant hunters. daren schumaker on the left and dennis lee on the right call themselves

attempting to run across every county in the state. we have been lost. in monona county we zigged when we should have zagged. made it a 45 mile day. the journey started in 2009. their motto is inspiration through perspiration. we thought we would raise money for the american heart association when we started. as we evolved we spun it into get up and get active. each run is basically a 26 mile marathon. we joined them december 12th as they ran cerro gordo county. that meant running past clear lake..and running through the traffic of mason city. they h he seen many intereststg things along the way. both mentioned a siting in mitchell county we were running by a barn with doves circling around. it was beautiful. on this day , before the run there was a visit to the site of the plane crash that killed buddy holly, , richie valens and the big bopper. peggy sue, donna, chantilly lace. later, on the run they passed the surf ballroom in clear lake, site of holly's final performance. ,i am going to pop in. never been here before. excited totoee what's inside. the stop was brief. there were many miles to go. dennis and daren would finish at nora springs after running 26 point two five

it's to honor the lives of two homeless people murdered earlier this year. the catherine mcauley center is hosting the memorial walk today. they will be starting at the center at 5 o'clock this evening. then they will walk or drive to each of the two sites where the homeless people were killed. back in september, police found 56-year-old raymond ursino strangled in the parking lot of the first presbyterian church. found 41-year-old sharon mead strangled outside of coe college. 44-year-old travis standlee

for the two murders in may. he has pleaded not guilty. homeless advocates from around the state will gather today at the state capitol building in des moines. the leaders of joppa - a non profit that works to end homelessness - have organized the memorial and rally to show city officials something needs to be done. a candlelight vigil is planned for 5:30 to remember the 26 men and women who have died homelessssn camps. today, a construction crew in cedar rapids will put in the last steel beam of the new c-r-s-t building. the 1story building on first street southeast has been under construction since september of last year. this is video from february this year. the crst international corporate headquarters will occupy two floors of the building. and bankers trust, rsm international and holmes murphy will fill in the rest of the space. the building should be done next summer. military veterans in eastern iowa are learning ways to help get back into civilian life through a favorite outdoor activity.

week for a deer hunt. healing at english river outfitters, or "hero" hosts the hunt. organizers say it invites injured veterans from around the nation to participate. they say it's a way for them to connect with each other and their families. english river outfitters also offers a life skills program for veterans, to help them get back into the workforce. friends are raising money to help a walford volunteer firefighter. he was diagnosed with stage-4 lymphoma earlier this year. when doctors first diagnosed matt crispin in february, his friends raised 6 thousand dollars for medical bills by selling t- shirts. crispin's basement flooded on thanksgiving, a day after one of his chemo treatments. that sparked the idea for his frien to raise 5 thousand more dollars. yesterday, dozens of people met at the fire station and walked with santa claus to present the check. they greeted the family outside of the home with hugs and tears. "he's a great friend that would help any one of us with
